My Job Practice

The first days of my practical were just to listen and learn. I worked on a school as a athletics teacher. The first weak we were out and played games in the snow. My two friends Calle and Oskar were on the same place as my and we hold in many lessons together. The Second week we had Handboll on the schedule that week were was the toughest week. We held in the most of the lessons and our supervisor left the classes to ous. It was so many rules we had to explain for the kids and how you played defence and offense and many of the kids had no sports experience at all on their spare time. So you can imagine how it is to explain every little bit of the sport to a little neard its not an easy job. The next and the last week we played my favorite sport after football it's called Innebandy in Sweden but it’s international name is Floorball. I was eather a referee or I’ll played with the kids and we had a lot of fun.
Once a week we had a ice-hockey practice with a special Elite group. Me, Oskar and Calle we all play hockey. Ice-hockey is Sweden’s national sport and Sweden is one of the most successful National teams in the world, so it is a very popular sport among guys.
The three weeks were very fun and profitable. Our supervisor Jonas was very happy with our performance.

At an after-school recreation centre

Hello!

I have practiced at an after-school recreation centre. That’s something that children between the ages of 6 to 9 can go to after school. It’s a place for them to stay in school and play with other children after the ordinary school day, or it can be a place parents can have their child while they are still at work, and don’t want their child to be home by itself. at the after-school recreation centre they do a lot of fun activities like some of the things we did were ice-skating, another day we walked to a public baths, and we even had a field trip to the nearest mountain and let the kids ski, and all of this we did in one single week. And that’s a place I want my children to be at when I grow up.

Personal assistant

My practice
We have been practicing for three weeks it has been very fun and we have learned very much. I was on a school where I have taught children from grade two. It has been a good experience and I have learned what is happening out at real jobs.
I worked at Örnässkolan as a personal assistant for a kid that finds it a little bit hard to work in a class. I have learned to always look up to kids who have a little bit hard to work in a big class.

At a day nursery

Hello! I have practiced at the day nursery for 3 weeks. We study a curse in our school and that course is included in our education. The children were about one to five years old and some couldn’t even eat by them self so sometimes I where forced to feed them. They have some routine there and some of them are there every day. They eat at special times and they also go out at nine o’clock to eleven o’clock and the children love it. During my practice I have been eating with them, and also reading, painting and also making some Easter chicken. They have a female cook and she works about 5 hours every day and she cooks and cleans. There were about 18 kids in my division. My division was called blueberry and the other division called lingonberry. I worked a full time post during the entire week. Every day we were at the day nursery but one day all the children did a day trip to Hertsökullar and there we ate sausages, hamburgers and so on. I think my practice was very funny and I hope I will meet them again.

My practise

I have done my practise at a kindergarten in my neighbourhood. I was on the department “the berry”. The children on my department were 1-6 years old. I really enjoyed the practise. The children were very funny and very sweet.I got a cold on my very first week because very many children were sick so often.I used to begin after the children had eat their breakfast, and go home when they finished their “snack” in the afternoon. We were usually outside about an hour a day. I helped the youngest kids to get dress. After we had been outside we eat lunch. After lunch they played and the youngest kids went to sleep for a while. I draw to the kids a lot, most of the time they wanted princesses and horses. I also read books for them, and one day I baked with them.

Practice at the swimmin pool

Practice

I have practiced at a swimming pool in Luleå during three weeks. I started every morning 06.30 and worked till 14.00. Early in the morning we cleaned up in the swimming pool and in the shower room. After that we waited for the classes who wanted to come that day.

When the classes had come I taught the children who wanted to learn swim. I had about 3-4 classes every day.
Before every class I had a plan what I could do with them so they thought it was funny to swim.
I ate lunch at 11.00 a clock and had about 30-40 minutes’ break. After lunch I waited for two new classes who wanted to come.
I really liked to practice at the swimming pool. It was very fun to work with the lifeguard. We had very fun together.

Jobbcenter

We have been at a workplace called Jobbcenter where people with functional disorder works.
There were three types of jobs that they could choose from. One of them was a café where some of them made cookies and food. The other one was a car repair shop and garages where they washed the customers' cars. The last work was to put subcontract work together and send it to a big company called LIKO.

In our time at Jobbcenter we got to see how everything works, we also helped the persons with functional disorder. One day we fried waffles with one person there. It was very fun to do something else when we always did the same things, washing and cleaning cars.
The last day at our practice we had cookies with us to all the people at the workplace and they enjoyed it very much so it was a good ending.

Kindergarten

I have done my practise at the kindergarten in my neighbourhood. The children were 2-5 years old and very sweet. I really enjoyed my three weeks there. It was close to my home and I didn’t need to take the bus, which I have to do everyday when I go to school.

An ordinary day: I arrived at 8.00 am and helped the teachers to make breakfast to the children. After breakfast we went outside so the children could play. I helped the youngest kids to dress themselves. All of the children ate very much snow and that is very disgusting. They also played a lot in the water that had melted in the sun, which was shining almost everyday, and went down the snow hills with a kind of a sledge but softer. It is more or less a mattress made to glide on the snow like a sledge. By lunch we went inside again and we took their vet clothes off. After that I read a book aloud for some of the children. Some of them took a nap. Then they played by themselves for a while. The kindergarten had one big room full of pillows so they played a lot in that room. There were two little girls, Ellen and Lisa, they loved to dance and they always wanted me to watch them. They danced and stumbled round and round and sang. They had one favourite CD, and I couldn’t get the songs out of my head every time I heard it. It was songs about baking buns and Pelle the penguin. If the weather allowed they went out again, and by that time I went home.

Practise!

Hello!

We have been practising as PE teachers for the last three weeks on a local nine-year compulsory school. We have been studying there ourselves before high school. It was a really fun experience were we where able to have some lessons with different classes. We organized some physical and cooperation activities with them. Before every lesson we started out planning the schedule so that it was easier to structure the lessons. It was a good opportunity to train on our leadership skills. The lower grades where undisciplined and harder to control, but with a whistle it was easier to organize them. We also had some lessons with disabled classes wich was a new experience because you have to make the instructions very basic and clear, but it worked out very well so we are happy about that.

Practice at our old high school

Hello people!

We have been to practice for three weeks. We were at our old high school, there we went when we were younger. We had some PE lessons with different classes, there we were able to practise our leadership skills. We also had lessons with immigrants who came from different countries all around the world. There we had to teach the kids our language, witch is Swedish. Sometimes we helped the schools textile craft teacher with different kind of duties, like dress a chair and sew ribbons. We enjoy our time there, it was fun to meet our old teachers and see our old school again.

Practice

In three weeks I have practiced leadership by functioning as a teacher for kids between one to seven years old. I did all the things a regular teacher use to do. I played with them inside and outside, eat lunch with them and make them sleep an hour or two after the lunch.

I start about eight a clock Monday to Friday and then a pay with the children or reed a book for them. About nine a clock we ate fruit, then if it was good weather we go outside and I help the kids get dressed. Some days we even go down to the ice and the kids get to run around. About half to eleven we go inside again, then we split the group in half and told them stories or teach them simple stuff like colors or shapes (triangle, circle). Eleven a clock we ate lunch, after that we put them to sleep. I quit between half to three and half to four.

3 weeks in a daycare center.

I have been on a daycare center in Örarna named Laxen. The kids who are there is 2-6 years old and they are about 20 kids there at the moment.

My working duty was to play with the kids, look after them so they didn’t hurt themselves, and read books for them etc.
I was there for 3 weeks.
When I was there I helped the persons who worked there with a thing called “Wasaloppet” (Wasaloppet is a tradition here in Sweden, the name come from a former Swedish king who skied 9 Swedish miles, to flee from the Danish king who was invading Sweden at that time), I created a track for the kids to ski on. Then I marked it with flags so they didn’t get lost.

Meanwhile...

Dear friends in Greece and Italy, we will soon be back on the blog. Meanwhile I hope you'll enjoy some pictures from the famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi which is situated in this part of Sweden though the distances are huge up here in Northern Sweden so it will take aproximately four hours to get there from Luleå. You can find more links if you click on the photos!

The students are back from their practical studies and will tell you more about these past three weeks shortly!
