E-Twinning

I think it has been absolute fantastic to work with students from another country, to read their own stories and experience.
It have been fun and of course wery interesting to learn more about the greeks and their culture.
All the time it felt very important to write on this blog just because we thought it was interesting to read about their life so I hope they felt the same.
Sometimes i just wonder how they feel about the school, I mean are they tired of the school and do they skip class, how do they feel about alcohol.
I want to know things that the teachers don’t want to hear.

Summing up the e-twinning

Hello!

Our names are Michaela and Sofia. We think this project has been funny and very worthwhile. We have a lot of tests because we have some few weeks left of this year. After that we have 10 weeks summer holiday. We think it has been great to read what you have done and things about you. In the summer we are going to get tanned, swim, and eat a lot of ice cream. We hope that the sun will shine every day.

// Mickan and Soffe

We love summer!

hello people!
we think this project has been fun and a good experiance to communicate with other people, who are not Swedish. The thing that we don't like is that you rarely comment our contribution.

It would be fun if we could meet in the reality so we could develop our English, and maybe we could learn you some fun Swedish words and you guys could learn us some.

Soon we have our sommer holiday, it's 10 weeks long and we are really looking forward to it, because we are very tired of school now, how is it for you?

love from Sweden

E-Twinning

My thoughts about this project have been both positive and negative. Its been fun that we have met the Greeks and Sicilians online. They had very interesting contributions about their school schedule and their spare time and how long school days they have compare to us Swedes. I have felt that I am very lucky that I live in Sweden and don’t have to spend all my days in school and don’t have any spare time to do things I like. It would have been fun to meet the Greeks and Sicilians in real life. I think that would have been a fun experience.
The negative whit this project is that we could have used our time to watch a movie or something else and the Greeks and Sicilians haven’t been so fast to update their page and they could have comment our work more often.
In my summer holiday I will train a lot every day, both football and Floorball I have football 5 times a weak and floorball 3 times and the floorball training will just be Physical training before the real season starts. So I wont have so much time to party and things like that. I will also work three weeks this summer so I have money to spend. And on my sparetime this summer I will be with my friends so much I can and will also go fishing and go to some festivals.

Andre Rova
My thoughts about the project are positive, I get to learn about the way other people in their schools in other countries different then our own.

With this project I improved my English and learned about the culture in Greece and Sicilian school and their way of living.

This is a great thing for young people to get to understand other people and learn how they live, maybe the prejudice we have of each other will disappear.

My last week in school has been all about homework and tests.

Erik Sturk
Hello

It has been good meeting you Greek and Sicilian students. We have learned how you live your lives in each country and so on. So yes, it has benefited us!
It would be nice to go and visit your country and see it with our own eyes! You seem to have a nice school. We hope that you have had a good experience learning about our country and got to see how a normal day for us looks like

The last couple of weeks in school have been stressful! It´s a lot going on now, exams and so on! But that’s how it is at the end of the school year; many things must be done before we go to summer holidays.

Hope you have a good summer!

It was a fun experience to talk to people in different countries about how they lived compared to ous.
I maybe learn to write better English so people understand what I want to say to them.
I think it would be more fun to meet the school classes in real life. Maybe fly to them and see with our own eyes how it is “over there”.
The last weeks we had a lot off tests and home easements to complete. It are very much stress in school right now.
In the summer I will work to get money to spend on maybe trips to some other countries or to a car.

Hi!

We think that it's a good opportunity to change experiences with people from other countries. You have to write in English so you learn the language better. It's funny to learn about your culture and what you do in your sparetime. We get to learn everyday English insted of doing homeworks to our teacher, and it's also much more funnier.

Soon we get summer holiday and we are longing for it. During our summer holiday we party a lot and sun bath very much. The school starts again at the end of August. So we always have a party the last week before the school begins.

Hello Greek and Sicilian students!

We think it is nice to communicate with people from different countries and see how they live and see how their schools looks like.

I have learned more english when we started this project and it is good because it´s a good benefit if you can speak and write english.

We have had a short spring break last week which was very nice. At the holiday were we at a friends house and grilled, that was very fun!
now we only have five weeks left of school, THEN IT IS SUMMER !!

We think that we are going to just relax in the summer and maybe work a few weeks. It´s nice to have some money to spend.

Evaluation of E-Twining

Hey!

It has been a really fun experience to talk with you and exchange facts about our countries and schools. To see how other students work in Greece and Sicily compared to Sweden. We have realized the differences in our possibilities and climates. It has also been interesting to learn more about your different cultures (food, interests). We have learned a lot and got a great chance to practise on our English skills. We hope that you have got a good experience about Sweden and got a good insight in our country and want to come here some day. We will definitely try to visit your countries some day. It would be awesome if we could meet you in reality and learn more about your countries and about your life. The last school weeks have been pretty intense, with a lot of schoolwork to do, but we have still had the time to squeeze in the last skiing of the season.
So now it's three weeks of school left until we're going to a nice summer vacation.

My Job Practice

The first days of my practical were just to listen and learn. I worked on a school as a athletics teacher. The first weak we were out and played games in the snow. My two friends Calle and Oskar were on the same place as my and we hold in many lessons together. The Second week we had Handboll on the schedule that week were was the toughest week. We held in the most of the lessons and our supervisor left the classes to ous. It was so many rules we had to explain for the kids and how you played defence and offense and many of the kids had no sports experience at all on their spare time. So you can imagine how it is to explain every little bit of the sport to a little neard its not an easy job. The next and the last week we played my favorite sport after football it's called Innebandy in Sweden but it’s international name is Floorball. I was eather a referee or I’ll played with the kids and we had a lot of fun.
Once a week we had a ice-hockey practice with a special Elite group. Me, Oskar and Calle we all play hockey. Ice-hockey is Sweden’s national sport and Sweden is one of the most successful National teams in the world, so it is a very popular sport among guys.
The three weeks were very fun and profitable. Our supervisor Jonas was very happy with our performance.

At an after-school recreation centre

Hello!

I have practiced at an after-school recreation centre. That’s something that children between the ages of 6 to 9 can go to after school. It’s a place for them to stay in school and play with other children after the ordinary school day, or it can be a place parents can have their child while they are still at work, and don’t want their child to be home by itself. at the after-school recreation centre they do a lot of fun activities like some of the things we did were ice-skating, another day we walked to a public baths, and we even had a field trip to the nearest mountain and let the kids ski, and all of this we did in one single week. And that’s a place I want my children to be at when I grow up.

Personal assistant

My practice
We have been practicing for three weeks it has been very fun and we have learned very much. I was on a school where I have taught children from grade two. It has been a good experience and I have learned what is happening out at real jobs.
I worked at Örnässkolan as a personal assistant for a kid that finds it a little bit hard to work in a class. I have learned to always look up to kids who have a little bit hard to work in a big class.

At a day nursery

Hello! I have practiced at the day nursery for 3 weeks. We study a curse in our school and that course is included in our education. The children were about one to five years old and some couldn’t even eat by them self so sometimes I where forced to feed them. They have some routine there and some of them are there every day. They eat at special times and they also go out at nine o’clock to eleven o’clock and the children love it. During my practice I have been eating with them, and also reading, painting and also making some Easter chicken. They have a female cook and she works about 5 hours every day and she cooks and cleans. There were about 18 kids in my division. My division was called blueberry and the other division called lingonberry. I worked a full time post during the entire week. Every day we were at the day nursery but one day all the children did a day trip to Hertsökullar and there we ate sausages, hamburgers and so on. I think my practice was very funny and I hope I will meet them again.

My practise

I have done my practise at a kindergarten in my neighbourhood. I was on the department “the berry”. The children on my department were 1-6 years old. I really enjoyed the practise. The children were very funny and very sweet.I got a cold on my very first week because very many children were sick so often.I used to begin after the children had eat their breakfast, and go home when they finished their “snack” in the afternoon. We were usually outside about an hour a day. I helped the youngest kids to get dress. After we had been outside we eat lunch. After lunch they played and the youngest kids went to sleep for a while. I draw to the kids a lot, most of the time they wanted princesses and horses. I also read books for them, and one day I baked with them.

Practice at the swimmin pool

Practice

I have practiced at a swimming pool in Luleå during three weeks. I started every morning 06.30 and worked till 14.00. Early in the morning we cleaned up in the swimming pool and in the shower room. After that we waited for the classes who wanted to come that day.

When the classes had come I taught the children who wanted to learn swim. I had about 3-4 classes every day.
Before every class I had a plan what I could do with them so they thought it was funny to swim.
I ate lunch at 11.00 a clock and had about 30-40 minutes’ break. After lunch I waited for two new classes who wanted to come.
I really liked to practice at the swimming pool. It was very fun to work with the lifeguard. We had very fun together.

Jobbcenter

We have been at a workplace called Jobbcenter where people with functional disorder works.
There were three types of jobs that they could choose from. One of them was a café where some of them made cookies and food. The other one was a car repair shop and garages where they washed the customers' cars. The last work was to put subcontract work together and send it to a big company called LIKO.

In our time at Jobbcenter we got to see how everything works, we also helped the persons with functional disorder. One day we fried waffles with one person there. It was very fun to do something else when we always did the same things, washing and cleaning cars.
The last day at our practice we had cookies with us to all the people at the workplace and they enjoyed it very much so it was a good ending.

Kindergarten

I have done my practise at the kindergarten in my neighbourhood. The children were 2-5 years old and very sweet. I really enjoyed my three weeks there. It was close to my home and I didn’t need to take the bus, which I have to do everyday when I go to school.

An ordinary day: I arrived at 8.00 am and helped the teachers to make breakfast to the children. After breakfast we went outside so the children could play. I helped the youngest kids to dress themselves. All of the children ate very much snow and that is very disgusting. They also played a lot in the water that had melted in the sun, which was shining almost everyday, and went down the snow hills with a kind of a sledge but softer. It is more or less a mattress made to glide on the snow like a sledge. By lunch we went inside again and we took their vet clothes off. After that I read a book aloud for some of the children. Some of them took a nap. Then they played by themselves for a while. The kindergarten had one big room full of pillows so they played a lot in that room. There were two little girls, Ellen and Lisa, they loved to dance and they always wanted me to watch them. They danced and stumbled round and round and sang. They had one favourite CD, and I couldn’t get the songs out of my head every time I heard it. It was songs about baking buns and Pelle the penguin. If the weather allowed they went out again, and by that time I went home.

Practise!

Hello!

We have been practising as PE teachers for the last three weeks on a local nine-year compulsory school. We have been studying there ourselves before high school. It was a really fun experience were we where able to have some lessons with different classes. We organized some physical and cooperation activities with them. Before every lesson we started out planning the schedule so that it was easier to structure the lessons. It was a good opportunity to train on our leadership skills. The lower grades where undisciplined and harder to control, but with a whistle it was easier to organize them. We also had some lessons with disabled classes wich was a new experience because you have to make the instructions very basic and clear, but it worked out very well so we are happy about that.

Practice at our old high school

Hello people!

We have been to practice for three weeks. We were at our old high school, there we went when we were younger. We had some PE lessons with different classes, there we were able to practise our leadership skills. We also had lessons with immigrants who came from different countries all around the world. There we had to teach the kids our language, witch is Swedish. Sometimes we helped the schools textile craft teacher with different kind of duties, like dress a chair and sew ribbons. We enjoy our time there, it was fun to meet our old teachers and see our old school again.

Practice

In three weeks I have practiced leadership by functioning as a teacher for kids between one to seven years old. I did all the things a regular teacher use to do. I played with them inside and outside, eat lunch with them and make them sleep an hour or two after the lunch.

I start about eight a clock Monday to Friday and then a pay with the children or reed a book for them. About nine a clock we ate fruit, then if it was good weather we go outside and I help the kids get dressed. Some days we even go down to the ice and the kids get to run around. About half to eleven we go inside again, then we split the group in half and told them stories or teach them simple stuff like colors or shapes (triangle, circle). Eleven a clock we ate lunch, after that we put them to sleep. I quit between half to three and half to four.

3 weeks in a daycare center.

I have been on a daycare center in Örarna named Laxen. The kids who are there is 2-6 years old and they are about 20 kids there at the moment.

My working duty was to play with the kids, look after them so they didn’t hurt themselves, and read books for them etc.
I was there for 3 weeks.
When I was there I helped the persons who worked there with a thing called “Wasaloppet” (Wasaloppet is a tradition here in Sweden, the name come from a former Swedish king who skied 9 Swedish miles, to flee from the Danish king who was invading Sweden at that time), I created a track for the kids to ski on. Then I marked it with flags so they didn’t get lost.

Meanwhile...

Dear friends in Greece and Italy, we will soon be back on the blog. Meanwhile I hope you'll enjoy some pictures from the famous Ice Hotel in Jukkasjärvi which is situated in this part of Sweden though the distances are huge up here in Northern Sweden so it will take aproximately four hours to get there from Luleå. You can find more links if you click on the photos!

The students are back from their practical studies and will tell you more about these past three weeks shortly!

The food at the school

In our school we have different lunch times every day. The food is for free and you don’t have to show any legitimating. We have a big dining room where we eat with the other classes in the school. Sometimes we have to stand in line for the food very long, around 10 minutes.

This is palt, and it is the best food.

Hello! we are going to tell you about one of the courses we have that is called, sports and humanity in our community. This course is about how sport has influenced our community and the other way around. The course is not a compulsory course at our school, it is a course especially made for our program. Like right now we are working about local clubs, and asking them some questions such as how many employees they have and so on, and after that we hold a verbal presentation about the football club or what type of club we are working about.

In Nature science we work about the brain and the human body and learn what they do. Its hard remember all the names of the differnt parts and what they do. First we have a test about the brain, then we have a second one about the human body. Christoffer Hansson, ERik Sturk,Andre Rova

Communicate

We have a subject that calls communication. We learn how to communicate in diffrerent ways. For example how to express your feelings and thoughts in pictures, speak and with your body language. We are trying to lern how other people understands us when we are talking or communicate with people. At the lessons we have had so far, we have used our creativity and draw pictures of our way to communicate. The lesson is two hours long and we have it one time at week.

The winter holiday

Next week we have our winter holiday. It's about a week long, and it's called sport vacation because you often go skiing or do other outdoor sports. We have some ski resorts near our town. For example: Måttsund, Kåbdalis and Ormberget. Many people travel to the bigger ski resorts that is located more far away. Many people like to drive snow mobil. They do that in the moutins or on the ice. When it's sunny and not too cold you can take a walk on the ice and bring some hot chocolate.
